Best PostMates Driver Referral Code For 2017
Postmates is expanding.. and hiring too!
Postmates is a market leading on-demand delivery platform, transforming the way local merchants and their consumers interact with each other. Leveraging the simplicity of a smartphone app, and an efficient network of urban logistics, local drivers and goodness of locally sourced inventory, they have revolutionized the reach of merchandise categories traditionally unavailable for delivery.
Postmates caters to a wide array of delivery options from food to exclusive store purchases, and promises a delivery time of under one hour. But as their customer base grows at a very rapid rate, they need to expand, and that means hiring new drivers and delivery couriers to keep up.
To help in their search for new drivers, the startup is offering new drivers a sign-onbonus worth up to $200 for new drivers who use a Postmates driver referral code at signup. Keep reading for more details.
For a business model relying on regional know-how, and speedy on-demand delivery, their fleet of couriers are the heartbeat of the business. Postmates hires many local drivers to augment their delivery system in the cities they operate. Beginning with a mere fifty odd drivers in San Francisco (2011), today they boast of 6,000 active drivers in their network, allowing them to seamlessly handle 2.5 million deliveries across 28 markets.
Postmates delivery people come in two types: drivers or riders. Drivers handle longer distance trips, and use their personal vehicles; their cars or trucks. Riders, on the other hand, use their personal bikes to make deliveries. Drivers are more common in cities that are spread out, like LA, and riders are common in large cities where the population is large and condensed, like Chicago or New York City.
Application & Oboarding
Whether you are interested in riding or driving, the Postmates applicaton process is fairly easy and straightforward. Interested applicants must first ensure they meet the requirements. This is essential because even one overlooked requirement can put an applicant out of the running.
You must be at least 18 years of age at the time of applying
You must have a valid driver’s license for at least one-year prior, at the time of applying.
Both of these conditions are implemented. So if you’re turning 18 in 3 weeks, or your license was procured only six months ago, chances are high that you’ll be rejected.
You need to own at least a smartphone to receive orders. Alternatively, you may lease one.
Postmates site clearly plumps for an upbeat attitude and pride in your delivery job. Prior delivery experience is a plus, as is prior customer service experience. Remember, you are the face of the business when you deliver, and your attitude reflects in their sales.
No car, no problem. Bikes, scooters and motor-bikes are good too.
If you don’t have a car or bike, or simply don’t want to put the miles on your own, you should check out Scoot. Scoot is a membership-based scooter rental business that allows users to move from place to place using scooters. Simply pick one up, drive it to a scooter depot near your destination, and forget about it. While they are currently only operating in the San Francisco area, it is something to watch. They may be in your city before you know it!

Postmates Referral Code
If you meet all the requirements for becoming a PostMates courier, you can then proceed to the application part of the onboarding process. Right now Postmates is offering very lucrative and enticing bonuses to grow their driver and courier fleet. These bonuses are worth hundreds of dollars. They vary by city, so you will find out the exact value when you apply.
To be eligible for these bonuses, given that you have met the requirements listed above, will require applying through a “bonus” link, and entering a promo code associated with the promotion. But to eliminate the hassle, we have made it easy:
Sign up for Postmates using the referral code RSPromo to snag an easy bonus. The referred courier simply has to complete the required number of jobs within the first 30 days, after which a city-specific bonus amount will automatically be applied to the account.
Note on entering the referral code:
if you click the “Apply for Free” OR “EASYPROMOCODE” links above, the referral code will automatically be applied to your application at signup, making you eligible for the bonus. This seems confusing, but this is just how Postmates does it. When you see an email address in the referral code box during the application, leave it there. That is how you will get the bonus.
What it does (clicking the link) is it inputs your courier email address automatically into the Referral Code box when a visitor clicks the link. Currently the interface is a little confusing, so you may want to add a note that they will see your email appear in their form, but that it’s totally normal.Postmates Support Representative

After you sign up for Postmates, and given you meet all the requirements, you will be vetted by getting a background check. This ensures the highest quality drivers, and reduces the risk to passengers and the company itself. The background check usually takes just a few days, and looks into things like criminal history, driving record, and other things of the sort.
The background check is conducted via third-party service like Sterling. Any criminal background (burglary, arson, theft, possession of drugs etc.), or prior driving misdemeanor (road rage, homicide etc.) is enough ground for rejection.
Once you clear the background check, Postmates contacts the potential recruits for an orientation session, in which new drivers are taught all about Postmates, and how to maximize their time behind the wheel (or handlebars).
Once you get a call for Postmates orientation, or an email for on-boarding, you’re mostly through. At this point, there are a few things which would prepare you to finally get on road.
Setting your expectations: The first thing you get to learn is about setting your expectation as a courier for Postmates. Their CEO clearly stated in TechCrunch, this is at best a part-time gig, so don’t expect to earn like a full-time job. By all accounts, the median pay is around $9/hour – though more enthusiasm may see you earn more.
Most of the orientations held in local offices, nicely decorated and designed to make the experience comfortable. Majority of them located in the West Coast have a hip décor, with glass walls and conference tables.
It is usually a group of people being mentored by a senior/ experience courier. The group size could vary from 5 to 20 odd. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and always be willing to share any prior experience in a similar business model.
It is important to pick the brain of experienced couriers not just to get a hang of the business model, local know-how, and ways to maximize income. There are a few things to ask about during your orientation:
Local coverage – many city limits are not completely covered, or in some cases additional metro areas fall under the Postmates coverage area. Ask about it.
Best times to drive – whether leveraging the lunch time, traffic rush in-and-out of city during weekends, or holidays, or just knowing the best hours to drive, the experience matters.
Postmates insurance – Postmates has a $1 million in excess liability insurance, including up to $50,000 in medical expenses. For bikers, they have $1 million in general liability.
Background check – The background check typically takes 2/4 days – though in certain cases it may take longer if you have some hiccups, or past record issues.
Pex card – Postmates will provide you a Pex card (similar to a credit card) to pay for all the food. If you get a request from a cash-only place, you need to cover it and request reimbursement from Postmates
Deliveries – Secure your delivery in a good carriage box/ basket if you’re delivering via bike, motorbike or scooter.
Partnerships – Some restaurants have partnership with Postmates, so their in-built app features helps place the order, and all you have to do is pick-up and deliver to the customer. For other local restaurants or stores, you have to re-iterate the customer order at merchant location ‘like a customer’ and then deliver it to the actual requester.
Differentiation – Unlike ride-sharing services like Lyft or Uber where you are tethered to the state of your registration, Postmates would allow you to work anywhere with the service availability. So if you moved from San Francisco to New York – you’re still in business as a courier.
To sum it up – there are several tidbits to learn from an experienced ‘mentor’ courier and it helps to know the little things which would enhance your experience as a PostMates courier.
